| Per Kirkeby is one of the most famous contemporary Nordic artists, both as a painter and as as a sculptor. He has been recognized as a film director and as an author, and he is also a qualified geologist. On his often long trips to Greenland, Central America and Tahiti he gained knowledge and inspiration for his artistic work. He often describes his pictures in geological terms, and he says that all of his paintings is about caves, clearings and space.
Familiar with the Nordic natural romantic tradition he creates exciting imaginary landscapes somewhere in between dream and reality.
