Born in 1964 in Denmark
Lives and works in Copenhagen and New York  CV
----------------------------------------------
Ann Lislegaard is interested in questions about perception, where vision dominates the other senses in our visual culture today. In her audio and light installations, she problematises the way we perceive and experience space with our senses. She investigates what happens when one sense is reduced and others are reinforced, among other things.

In the work I-You-Later-There from 2000, visitors hear a woman describe her own home. At the same time we hear familiar sounds such as clattering cups and the ripple of a water tap. The sound is combined with a white screen that reflects light. The strength of the light is connected to the level of the woman’s voice, so that the two elements react together. In this way the light becomes an abstract projection of the voice and the screen a fixed point for the imaginary room that the woman describes.
